A fight between two brothers in the 7700 block of Sahara Avenue in Twentynine Palms early Friday morning resulted in the arrest of one of them for assault. About 2:45 a.m., one brother called deputies to report that his brother, Matthew Ross, 22, had lunged at him with a knife. The victim said he jumped back and put up his arms to protect himself but ended up being slashed by the knife. Ross allegedly admitted to using the knife, but said it was in self-defense as he felt his brother was going to attack him. Matthew Ross was arrested for investigation of assault, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
