ONE ARRESTED, ONE SOUGHT IN FRONT PORCH BURGLARY IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday, and Sheriff’s deputies are searching for his accomplice, after they were spotted on surveillance video stealing two packages off a home’s front steps. According to a Sheriff’s report, a resident in the 72700 block of Sunnyslope Drive in Twentynine Palms reported that two packages, one containing a computer chair, and the other containing medical syringes, had been stolen about 5 p.m. Tuesday from his front door step. The resident showed the deputy surveillance video of the theft, which showed one man, later identified as Matthew Winters, 45, stand as a look-out in the road while another unidentified man stole one package off the step. Winters is then seen going up to the steps and stealing the other package. One of the responding deputies recognized Winters from the video and went to his home Wednesday in the 74200 block of Two Mile Road where he searched Winters’ backpack and found some of the stolen property. Winters refused to tell the deputy the name of the other man he was with. Matthew Winters was arrested for investigation of conspiracy, booked into West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $25,000.
