ONE ARRESTED FOLLOWING EARLY MORNING PURSUIT IN JOSHUA TREE

A Joshua Tree man was arrested early Thursday morning, accused of fleeing from Sheriff’s deputies. According to limited information from the Sheriff’s Department, a deputy tried to stop a vehicle near Quail Springs Road and Alta Loma in Joshua Tree about 5 a.m. The vehicle, with two men inside fled, and a pursuit ensued south on Quail Springs Road. Deputies found the men at a home in the 72200 block of Rincon Road in Joshua Tree. One man, Joshua MacKenzie, 36, was on probation for grand theft auto, and had a warrant out for his arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and intimidating a witness. Joshua MacKenzie was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield and conspiracy. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000. The other was cited and released due to a medical condition; a report will be sent to the district attorney’s office for review.
