ONE ARRESTED AFTER YUCCA VALLEY PEDESTRIAN HIT AND RUN

A pedestrian was severely injured, and a Los Angeles man was arrested, following a hit-and-run crash in Yucca Valley Sunday evening. About 6 p.m., the unidentified male victim was crossing Highway 62 in a crosswalk at Mohawk Trail when he was struck by a 2017 Mazda driven by Tom Kim, 60, who was driving westbound on the highway. A Sheriff’s report states that Kim knew he hit something, but didn’t know what it was, and continued driving. Kim returned to the scene about 15 minutes later to retrieve his car’s broken mirror. The victim was taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with critical injuries. Tom Kim was arrested for investigation of hit and run with serious injuries, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, and later released on $50,000 bail.
