A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Thursday, and deputies are searching for his accomplices, for an attempted burglary in Twentynine Palms last week. About 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, deputies were called to the 73000 block of Sunnyvale Drive in Twentynine Palms for an attempted burglary. Four men broke the gate to the yard and tried to break into the house through a sliding glass door. A witness spotted the men and they ran off before entering the house. About 3:30 a.m., deputies learned that four men with a similar description went to the AM/PM store on Highway 62 in Twentynine Palms and stole about $35 worth of merchandise. Using evidence at the scene, as well as surveillance cameras, deputies identified one of the suspects as Xavier Johnson, 21. Xavier Johnson was arrested for investigation of attempted burglary, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $75,000.
