ONE ARREST IN ATTEMPTED MURDER THIS WEEKEND

A Yucca Valley man who had just been released from prison was arrested early Friday morning, accused of attempted murder. According to deputies, Jonathan Perry, 31, went to the home of Joshua King, 36, in the 1600 block of Wamego Trail about 4:30 a.m. Friday. Perry broke into the home, and while King was sleeping, Perry beat him in the head with a blunt object, causing serious injuries. Perry then fled on a quad. Joshua King was taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Deputies located Perry at a home in the 300 block of Fortuna Avenue.

Jonathan Perry was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $1 million. The day before the assault, Perry had been released from prison. In August 2016, Perry drove a quad to the 1900 block of Yellow Knife Road and shot at least seven times at a motorhome on the 5-acre lot. Perry was sentenced to five years in state prison in September 2017 for unlawful discharge of a firearm and released Thursday.
