ONE ARREST AFTER A TWENTYNINE PALMS DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

A Twentynine Palms man accused of shooting another man in a drive-by shooting was arrested Saturday night. According to Sheriff’s Detective Daniel Popa, residents in the 5500 block of Cahuilla Avenue were arguing. One man, later identified as Clent Gibson, 40, left to get a gun, and returned about 9:30 p.m. Investigators say Gibson confronted the crowd while driving by slowly; after an angry exchange, Gibson allegedly fired several shots into the crowd, striking one man in the shoulder. Gibson then fled in his vehicle. The victim was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Deputies located Clent Gibson hours later at his home in the 5400 block of Cahuilla where he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Gibson was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $1 million.
