ONAGA ELEMENTARY STUDENT GETS A GOLD MEDAL IN 3-COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR

A local student won a gold medal at the 37th annual Inland Science and Engineering Fair Thursday. Amelia McMurachy, a student at Onaga Elementary School in Yucca Valley, was one of 37 students from San Bernardino, Inyo and Mono counties who won gold medals. About 500 students from the three-county region submitted 407 projects for the science fair. Awards were given in three categories: elementary, junior, and senior divisions. Only the junior and senior projects will advance on to the California State Science Fair, which will be held in Los Angeles in May.
