OLD SCHOOLHOUSE LECTURE TOMORROW ON THE HISTORY OF LOCAL WATER

It is called our most precious resource, yet its history in our Morongo Basin has been undervalued. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us how to join the Desert Institute’s Old Schoolhouse Lecture Series this Friday (March 12) for a fascinating look at water…

With a bachelor’s in geology and a master’s in public administration, Marina West is the general manager at Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency. She draws on more than 30 years’ experience in water management, and two years researching its history in the Morongo Basin. Her conclusion? It is our most undervalued resource. Beginning at 7 p.m. this Friday, March 12, her talk will focus on the history of our water resources; she will then draw us away from the convenience of the “tap and toilet” to share how early pioneers here found, secured, and sustained water supplies for survival. Tickets are $5 each; available through a link at https://tinyurl.com/history-of-water
