OLD SCHOOLHOUSE LECTURE SERIES UNVEILED

Every year, the Twentynine Palms Historical Society provides a venue for a series of monthly lectures on topics of local historical, scientific, and cultural interest. Reporter Dan Stork summarizes the Second Friday Lecture Series offerings for 2015-2016…
On the second Friday evening of each month from September to June, the Old Schoolhouse Museum in Twentynine Palms will be the site for a wide-ranging lecture series. This year’s topics include: the Mojave Project, desert shamans, bighorn sheep, homesteading, the “forgotten gold rush”, the 29 Palms Artist Guild, the Legend of Giant Rock, the Underhill family of Twentynine Palms, Joshua Trees, and Cowboy Humor and Poetry. The initial lecture, about “The Mojave Project” is on September 11. The lecture starts at 7 pm, and admission is $5 at the door.
