This Friday, June 14, the Old Schoolhouse lecture series will feature internationally acclaimed broadcaster and photographer Richard Arnold.

A native of Australia, Arnold was that nation’s longest-serving foreign correspondent and his stateside assignments included the White House and the Oscars. As a kid, Arnold collected pictures of American desert scenes, and now, as a desert local, he creates his own stunning images here in the Mojave.

Arnold’s lecture will focus on lesser known areas in Joshua Tree National Park and include images from one of our longest and most diverse spring blooms we’ve seen in years.

Presented by the Desert Institute and the Twentynine Palms Historical Society, the lecture will be at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, 6760 National Park Drive, Twentynine Palms, on Friday, June 14, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

There is an optional dinner with the speaker at 5 p.m. at the 29 Palms Inn, although space is limited and attendees are responsible for their own meal. To RSVP for the dinner, call 760-367-5539 before Wednesday, June 12.
