The classic Broadway musical, “Oklahoma,” celebrating its 75th year, will open with a gala fundraiser this Friday, (March 8), hosted by the Yucca Valley Noon Rotary at Theatre 29. Rotary President Patti Brown said the opening night gala will feature a delicious barbeque dinner with ribs and chicken and all the fixings prior to the show. This tale of star-crossed lovers, a charming cowboy and a winsome farmer’s daughter in the wild frontier of what will become America’s 46th state in the early twentieth century will take the stage for four weeks through March 31. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the pre-show barbeque and silent auction bidding featuring some fun themed baskets. One live auction item, a beautiful desert mosaic piece, will be offered to the attendees. The curtain rises at 7 p.m. Opening night tickets only are $25 each and are available at the Z107.7 Studios and by calling Patti Brown at 760-365-7003.
After opening night, regular ticket prices are $10-$15; make reservations at www.theatre29.org or by calling 760-361-4151.
