The Officer’s Spouses Club of the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center showed their appreciation and generosity to Morongo Basin scholars and community organizations yesterday evening. During the year, the very active group raised funds with bingo, dinners, get-togethers and other events, capped off by their annual gala auction held at the historic Smith’s Ranch in the City of Twentynine Palms. Those efforts netted them some $58,000 which they returned to the community in scholarships, educational and community organizational grants. The Awards Reception was hosted at the home of Commanding General William Mullen, and presided over by OSC President Sherrie Lewis. The club presented scholarships totaling $26,000 to area military students to further their education locally at Copper Mountain College and universities across the country. After the scholarship presentations, the club then presented $32,000 to 28 local community and school organizations that support the local military community.
