An off-roader in Twentynine Palms was arrested on suspicion of having an illegal switchblade knife after attempting to evade deputies.
On Thursday (April 10), San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies patrolling in Twentynine Palms observed an off-road vehicle driving southbound on Mesquite Springs Road near El Paseo Drive in Twentynine Palms.
Deputies say they attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver tried to drive away from deputies but the vehicle stalled. Deputies were able to catch up to vehicle, and identified the driver as Nicholas Valenzuela, 24. Deputies say that Valenzuela has a suspended driver’s license and was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife.
Nicholas Valenzuela was arrested on suspicion of carrying a switchblade knife and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail. He has been released on bail.
