Off-highway vehicle, or OHV, enthusiasts have more reason than ever to ride safe and obey the law when they set out to follow their passion in our Morongo Basin. Reporter Mike Lipsitz sticks to the approved trails for this report…
County supervisors yesterday approved a grant for off-highway vehicle related law enforcement activity through July 2018 in our Morongo Basin. The grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation, along with a required 25 percent funding match, will give the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station just over $52,000 to pay for personnel and equipment dedicated to OHV safety and compliance during a number of specific long weekends. The program is funded from OHV registrations, fees, fines, and forfeitures, and is intended to supplement Bureau of Land Management operations.
