A structure fire was extinguished early yesterday morning (November 22) in Yucca Valley. At around 4:20 a.m, the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a structure fire in the area of Warren Vista and Yucca Trail. Fire crews arrived to find one large shed adjacent to an occupied residence well involved with fire. Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the residence, which was made more difficult by downed power lines.
Units from Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree and CALFIRE were able to get the fire under control in less than ten minutes, and say that unhoused people Witnesses verified that people were living in the shed at the time of the fire although no specific cause has been determined.
San Bernardino County Fire Department reminds residents and visitors to be mindful of heating sources as temperatures throughout the county continue to drop. ‘We certainly want people to be warm during the colder months of the year, but we want them warm and safe. Some methods for keeping warm can be down right hazardous if used improperly or without proper consideration” says Battalion Chief Donnie Viloria.
