NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED BY COPPER MOUNTAIN COLLEGE

Two Copper Mountain College students have been awarded the Martie Avels Nursing scholarship. Terri-Jordon Birt is a first-year student and Nichole Cauley is a second-year student in the college’s nursing program. The two students will split the $6,000 scholarship named for Avels, a nurse, long-time employee and former board member and Interim Administrator of the Hi-Desert Medical Center. Avels retired from the hospital in 2003 as chief nursing executive.
