Two Copper Mountain College students were awarded the 2014 Martie Avels Nursing Scholarship. Bobbie Buckman of Joshua Tree, and Breanna Ingalls of Yucca Valley, both registered nursing students at CMC, will receive a total award of up to $6,000 to defray the cost of tuition and books. Buckman said she was humbled to be chosen. “I can’t say I’m any more deserving than anyone else who applied.” Ingalls is already one year into the two-year CMC registered nursing program. “I’m looking forward to working at Hi-Desert Medical Center once I graduate,” she said. The scholarship was named in honor of Martie Avels, a longtime registered nurse at Hi-Desert Medical Center, and is awarded to registered nursing students at CMC.
