NUMBER OF CONFIRMED CASES JUMPS UP IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

San Bernardino County reported three additional coronavirus deaths as of this morning, (Tuesday, April 7), and the number of confirmed cases shot up by more than 150. There are now 530 cases of COVID-19 and 16 deaths. In the Morongo Basin, we have five cases—three in Yucca Valley and two in Joshua Tree.

Among the positive cases reported by the county since testing began are 75 residents and employees at a rehabilitation facility in Yucaipa. Eight residents and seven employees tested positive at a health care center in Colton. Five residents of the Yucaipa facility and one at the Colton facility have died.

Three more firefighters in San Bernardino County have tested positive for the coronavirus; the three new cases brought the total of positive cases of coronavirus to firefighters to five. The new cases came from the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and the Daggett Fire Department, officials said.

Of the 5,670 people tested for COVID-19 in the county, 9.3 percent had positive results, the county’s data show. Of those who tested positive, 51.2 percent are male, 48.6 percent are female and .2 % were unknown.

Most of the cases, 219, were among people 18 to 49 years old, while 169 were 50 to 64 years old, 135 were older than 65 and six were 2 to 17 years old, according to the county.
