NON-PARTISAN POLITICAL POP-UP PUTS CANDIDATES AND VOTERS TOGETHER

Candidates for offices across the Morongo Basin met with voters at Saturday’s non-partisan political pop up sponsored by Z107.7 and the Sportsman’s Club in Joshua Tree. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us who turned out to meet with voters…

Candidates and voters turned out in about equal numbers offering ample access for open dialogue and a chance for candidates to discuss plans and points of view in depth.

From the Morongo Unified School District, incumbents Karalee Hargrove and Ronald Palmer turned out; challenger Denise Cohen was home sick and sent her mother and son in her stead. From Hi-Desert Memorial Healthcare District, sitting director Joseph Sullivan attended along with challengers Misty Evans and Dianne Markle-Greenhouse. Three of the four candidates vying for two open seats on the Yucca Valley Town Council turned up. They included Jeff Drozd, Jeri Wilson, and Eric Quander. Only one of the four candidates running for two seats on the Twentynine Palms City Council turned up, that was Jim Krushat. And from Joshua Basin Water District incumbents Mickey Luckman and Robert Johnson showed up along with challengers Richard Fountain and Geary Lund.
