The Military Child of the Year awards will recognize six children between the ages of 13 and 18, one each from the Marine Corps, Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard, for their scholarship, with a $10,000 cash prize and a trip to Washington, D.C. The awards are based on the child’s volunteerism, leadership, and extracurricular involvement, while facing the challenges of military family life. A seventh award for innovation will be given to a military child who has designed a bold and creative solution to address a local, regional or global challenge.
