A power outage throughout the Morongo Basin Monday left tens of thousands of residents without power for hours, some for as long as 18 hours. Residents in Joshua Tree, Twentynine Palms, Yucca Valley, Landers, Pioneertown, and Morongo Valley reported power outages between 8:30 and 9 a.m. While power was restored to most customers by 11:30, about 86 customers were not expected to have power restored until 3 a.m. this morning. A Southern California Edison spokesman told Z107.7 that a power line was down an at unspecified substation and they were working to repair it. The spokesman did not say why the power line was down.
