NO MAJOR DAMAGE REPORTED AFTER THUNDERSTORMS BRING MUCH NEEDED RAIN

The season’s first major thunderstorm blasted the region with more than 1,000 lightning bolts in 24 hours, and more than an inch of rain doused the San Bernardino Mountains, says the National Weather Service. The top three rainfall amounts fell in Crestline, 1.67 inches, Twin Peaks, 1.66, and Lake Arrowhead, 1.62. Locally Yucca Valley received .23 inches, Twentynine Palms .40, and .60 in Joshua Tree. Power lines were reported down in Yucca Valley and Morongo Valley, causing power outages in parts of the Morongo Basin for hours yesterday. Some minor flooding of roads was reported locally with no major damage or injuries reported.
