The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash in Twentynine Palms yesterday morning that flipped a car onto its side. Just after 8:30, a black SUV was driving south on Lupine when a red sports car, driving west on El Paseo, blew through the stop sign and broadsided the SUV. The driver of the SUV attempted to avoid the crash, but hit the curb and flipped onto its side. The driver of the red car then fled the scene, but witnesses reported that the car’s front bumper was dragging on the ground and it was seen driving around the neighborhood. The occupants of the SUV were uninjured. The Sheriff’s report notes about contact was made with a suspect about 5 p.m., but no identifying details were made available.
