Anyone thinking about the August 2017 mail ballot election for three seats on the Twentynine Palms Water Board can stop now. That race has ended before it began. Reporter Mike Lipsitz explains…
The San Bernardino County Elections Office confirmed to Z107.7 News yesterday that the race for the Twentynine Palms Water District board of directors will not appear on the August ballot. The reason is because, even after an extended filing period, just three candidates filed papers for the three open director seats. According to the Elections Office, the terms of directors Bob Coghill and Suzi Horn will be extended for another four years beginning in December. At the same time, newcomer Randy Leazer will take the oath of office and begin a four year term in the seat currently occupied by Roger Shinaver. Shinaver, who has served for two terms on the board, did not file for re-election.
