NEXT ROUND OF YUCCA VALLEY HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION STARTS MONDAY

Just when you thought road construction on Highway 62 was finally done in Yucca Valley, a new project is scheduled to start Monday, June 2. The Highway 62 Traffic and Pedestrian Improvements project will include construction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and raised median islands from Apache to Palm Avenues. In addition, a traffic signal at Church Street and the highway will be installed, as well as modifications to the traffic signal at Mohawk Trail. During this round of construction, the plan is for the construction company to install curbs, gutters, and sidewalks on the north side of the highway first, then move over on to the south side of the highway, and finally, install the medians and the traffic signal. The Town is working with the construction company to have all travel lanes re-opened at the end of each construction day and on weekends, to minimize the effect on traffic on the highway. The project is expected to be completed in October.
