LifeStream, the non-profit blood bank that supplies blood to more than 80 hospitals, including those in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, has enacted new vaccine requirements for employees and volunteers. LifeStream CEO Dr. Rick Axelrod stated that, because LifeStream delivers blood to hospitals, they must follow current hospital protocols for COVID-19. As a result, all LifeStream employees and volunteers will be required to show proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of their arrival. LifeStream is currently experiencing a shortage of community blood donors and volunteers to help with blood drives. For a list of local blood drives or for volunteer information, call 800-TRY-GIVING.
