NEW TWENTYNINE PALMS STREET FAIR AND CAR SHOW DAY, DATE, AND LOCATION

The 14th Annual Twentynine Palms Street Fair and Car Show will be held on a new day, date, and location this year. The original event was first started by Z107.7 Radio, Vickie Waite with her Sunrunner magazine, and Mike Collins of Collins Computer Innovations. The show, held on the highway in downtown Twentynine Palms the first Friday night in June, gradually grew so big that is was eventually turned over to the Chamber of Commerce as a fund-raiser. After a well-attended public meeting last week to plan the event, organizers decided to move the fair and car show to Luckie Park, on Saturday, May 3, from 10 to 4. Plans call for an expanded car show format, a “Kidz Zone” with games for kids, a beer garden and live entertainment. The annual ASYMCA Soap Box Derby will move its traditional venue as well to remain part of the event. For more information or to volunteer, call Twentynine Palms Chamber Executive Director Cynthia Truitt at 760-367-3445.
