There’s a new hiking trailhead connecting Joshua Tree National Park with Desert Hot Springs and the Coachella Valley. The 1.5-mile trail connects to the Long Canyon Trail Route within the park and is located on the dirt road portion of Long Canyon Road, near its intersection with Hacienda Avenue in Desert Hot Springs. The newly marked and cleaned-up trail has been a long time coming, with original requests dating back to 1994. The trail now serves as the only access to Joshua Tree National Park from the Coachella Valley. For more information about hiking in the national park and park trails, visit nps.gov/jotr
