A new art exhibit will be on display at the 29 Palms Art Gallery in the month of October. Ernest Figueroa paints a picture of who visitors will be able to see at the gallery…
The 29 Palms Art Gallery will feature artwork by artists David Greene and Laurie Schafer in October, along with works by 29 Palms Artists’ Guild members. Greene will have 18 new paintings from his series Mojave Noir IV, featuring nighttime and moonlit landscapes inspired by his life in Wonder Valley. Schafer, of Yucca Valley, creates mixed media artworks and installations, and presents her textile art—literally painting with fabric—in her show “Dangerous Beauty.” The artwork will be on display October 1 to 25 at the gallery. The artists will be present for special extended hours at the gallery on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery is located at 74055 Cottonwood Drive, off National Park Drive, in Twentynine Palms
Featured artist David Greene presents 18 new paintings from his series “Mojave Noir IV,” nighttime and moonlit landscapes inspired by his life in Wonder Valley. In addition to the new works, Greene will include Mojave Noir paintings from all stages of the 10-year series. The show also marks the premier of his major new work, “The Music of the Spheres—An Unintended Triptych,” painted as a tribute to his friend and mentor, artist James Beoddy of Columbus, Ohio.
Artist Laurie Schafer of Yucca Valley creates mixed media artworks and installations, and presents her textile art—literally painting with fabric—in her show “Dangerous Beauty.” A degree in Clothing Design evolved into Laurie’s Artwear, a collision of art and fashion, which has garnered numerous awards, was published in books and magazines, and is found in museums, galleries, and private collections. Her life in the desert has influenced further evolutions in her art, developing an appreciation of the vistas of the desert and the dangerous beauty of the universe.
Regular hours at 29 Palms Art Gallery are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. Admission is free. For more information, go to 29palmsartgallery.com.
