NEW CHAIRMAN AND VICE-CHAIRMAN ELECTED FOR YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION

At last night’s (March 22) meeting of the Yucca Valley Planning Commission, the commissioners nominated and approved Commissioner Henderson to serve as Chairman and Commissioner Stoker to serve as Vice Chairman. In addition, the meeting included comprehensive discussions for sign and mural policy and other town business. Reporter Hilary Sloane will give you the details…

The Commission approved several permits to transplant or remove Western Joshua Trees at various locations while considering the best course of action for protecting the trees. They then held an in-depth discussion of future signs and mural regulations. The discussion included defining branding, advertising, and artwork and recommending the Parks Recreation and Cultural Commission evaluate proposed murals. Public input is encouraged. The Commission finished the meeting with a discussion of future project applications and a tentative update on the upcoming meetings by the Fish and Wildlife and Fish and Game Commissions to determine protection guidelines and permit authorizations for Joshua Trees.
