NEW APP MAKES IT EASIER AND FASTER TO GET INTO JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

We’ve all heard about peak attendance and long entrance lines at Joshua Tree National Park. Now the park service has made it easier and faster to get into the park. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says pull over and get out your smart phone…
Joshua Tree National Park now offers a free mobile app which will allow visitors to prepay entrance fees. The app can be downloaded from the app store by searching, “JTNP Fee Pay: Park Pass.” Visitors can use debit and credit cards, PayPal and other major digital wallet systems. Users will choose between the $25 seven-day single vehicle pass; the $12 seven-day individual pass for anyone on a motorcycle, bicycle or walking into the park; and the $40 Joshua Tree National Park annual pass. The purchaser will receive a specific digital pass to show at the park entrance stations along with photo ID. Passes are non-transferable. The park service hopes that this new option, JTNP Fee Pay: Park Pass, will streamline the park fee, purchase process and reduce time getting into the park. Joshua Tree National Park is one of only two parks nationwide included in the pilot program.
