The official opening of the new Twentynine Palms Visitor’s center for Joshua Tree National Park is set for tomorrow morning (May 7) at 10:00. The Center, called the Joshua Tree Cultural Center, located in the new Freedom Plaza in downtown Twentynine Palms, will serve as both a Visitor’s Center and Native American Cultural display. The center is a joint project of the City of Twentynine Palms, The National Park Service, the Twenty-nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, the Joshua Tree National Park Association, and the Bureau of Land Management. Park Spokesman Jennie Albrinck told Z107.7 News that the official opening will feature remarks from partner representatives David Smith for the Park, Sarah Bliss for the Tribe, 29 Palms Mayor Karmolette O’Gilvie, Jacque Guevera for the Park association, And Kirsten Heins for the BLM. The “Singing Ranger” will provide entertainment and there will be refreshments. Albrinck said the fist display for the Cultural Center features the story of the Rehabilitation and Preservation of Key’s Ranch, including video presentations and stunning images from the Park.
