Who can you depend on when you have a big job to be done? Well, for Reach Out Morongo Basin, it was the Navy chiefs and chief selectees aboard the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains…
Last Saturday, 18 Naval personnel, as well as some friends and family, helped paint the inside of the Twentynine Palms Senior Center to freshen it up. Reach Out Morongo Basin, which has its office inside the center, said Reach Out was contacted by HMC Noel Buenaobra of 1st Tanks Battalion, who said the Navy chiefs and chief selectees wanted to do a community service project. Schlosser said 50 to 70 seniors visit the center daily, and despite the remodeling three years ago, the building was starting to show wear and tear. The chiefs had nearly everything done within an hour, and Schlosser said they had them work on other projects as well. “You could really see the team spirit … they had working together. We so appreciate their service to our community and our country and their dedication embodies the honor and integrity of the United States Navy.”
