Renowned nature photographer David McChesney, a Joshua Tree resident, with be teaching a series of classes at the Cactus Mart in Morongo Valley this spring. Reporter Dan Stork chatted with him about those classes and other works McChesney has in progress…
Z107.7: When are the classes going to be, David?
DM: My first class is going to be on March 21. They have a March 28 class, and then one is going to be on April 25 and May 2. In the first two classes, we also are going to have a workshop, where they’ll be photographing plants and wildflowers. In the second two classes, we’ll also be making a little trip over to the Big Morongo Canyon/Covington Park photographing bird life. Because this time of year we have our wildflower season starting, overlapping with our migratory bird season, which brings us our yellow and orange and red birds, which we don’t get year round.
Z107.7: Do you have any projects in process?
DM: I’m doing a “Birding in the American Southwest” book now that’s on the computer, as well as another book about “Out My Windows,” which is my property in Joshua Tree where I get an opportunity to photograph a lot of the bird life and wildlife in the area.
