Motorists in Twentynine Palms got an eyeful Thursday afternoon. Shortly before 6 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department received several calls that a naked man, later identified as Chad Powell, 32, was standing, sitting, and lying down on Highway 62 near Mesquite Springs Road. Powell told deputies he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day, but wasn’t sure if another drug may have been mixed in with it. Chad Powell was arrested for investigation of being under the influence of a controlled substance, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and released about 8 p.m.
