For two years now, Artist Sarah Witt has been inviting local enthusiasts to join her in a culinary exploration of the Mojave Desert. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has your invitation…

At the regular monthly themed dinner gathering organized by artist Sarah Witt under the name Hi-Desert Test Kitchen, mustard and other weeds will be the chosen ingredients. Both native and non-native mustards are prevalent in our area, and so are other edible weeds such as thistles, mallow, dandelion, lambs quarters. For those who attend, the mission is to bring a dish to share that is either made with or inspired by a local weed.  Tonight’s meeting is at the Copper Mountain Mesa Community Center on Winters Road just east of Boarder. The potluck is at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19. For more information: www.sarahwitt.net/hdtk/#/hdtk-archive/.
