Theatre 29 opens the musical “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” this Friday night May 29 with a gala fundraiser benefiting CERT, the Twentynine Palms Community Emergency Response Team. Reporter Rebecca Havely has all the details…
The opening night gala fundraiser for “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” this Friday night begins at 6 p.m. with refreshments and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will help fund future training for CERT, a group that will assist first responders in the aftermath of a local disaster. The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. The musical comedy mystery takes place in Victorian era England as a troupe of actors presents a play based on an unfinished Dickens novel. The show features Leonard Webber, Virginia Sulick, Char Childs, Chris Fleischman, Katie Van Summeren, Cyrus Short, Scott Clinkscales, Dennis “Easy” Boos and many more Theatre 29 favorites. The show is directed by veteran director Charles Harvey. Tickets for opening night only are $20 and are available at the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce, the Z107.7 studio in Joshua Tree, or by contacting CERT treasurer Mary Reeves at 760-625-5335.
“The Mystery of Edwin Drood” will run five consecutive weekends at Theatre 29 through June 27, with Sunday matinees on June 7 and 21. For tickets on dates other than opening night visit theatre29.org or call 760-361-4151.
