The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will meet tonight at Joshua Tree Elementary School with closed session beginning at 6 p.m. and open session beginning at 7 p.m. During closed session, the board will continue to hold labor negotiations with the Morongo Teachers Association (MTA) and the California School Employees Association (CSEA).

During open session, the board will hear an update from Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Amy Woods regarding the 2021-2022 Local Control and Accountability Plan (or LCAP) for the first half of the school year. The board will also vote for candidates for the 2022 California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly election, in addition to voting on refunding bonds in the district.

Several other action items are planned, including a vote to approve a construction management contract for the Twentynine Palms High School Stadium Improvements Project and a vote to approve architectural and designing services for door hardware improvements at La Contenta Middle School, Twentynine Palms Junior High School, Twentynine Palms High School, and Yucca Valley High School.  They will also vote to approve sunshine proposals with MTA and CSEA, which would allow negotiations to proceed in developing a tentative agreement for the coming school year.
