The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees begins a busy week with a regular session meeting tonight at Joshua Tree Elementary School, with the work-study session beginning at 5 p.m., closed session at 5:50 p.m., and open session at 7 p.m. As part of the work-study session, David Daniels, Director of Maintenance and Operation, will present the district’s three-year deferred maintenance plan. The closed session will include a discussion of the district’s superintendent position, currently held by interim Superintendent Doug Weller. During the open session, the board will hear a presentation about special education as part of National Disabilities Awareness Month, as well as a presentation from the COVID-19 testing provider for the district, Inspire Diagnostics. Board members will also vote to ratify the district’s 2021 high school graduates, in addition to voting to adopt the Governance Handbook. The board will meet again in a special joint session with the Copper Mountain Community College District this Thursday, October 14, at 5:00 p.m. at the Copper Mountain College Bell Center.
