In light of the recent death of a Yucca Valley High School student, who died doing a social media stunt known as “car surfing,” Morongo Unified School District Superintendent Tom Baumgarten expressed concerns over young people who participate in dangerous social media challenges and stunts. These stunts involve a great deal of physical risk. Working with Z107.7, Baumgarten and the Morongo Unified School District have introduced a new campaign to keep young people informed of, and safe from, these challenges and stunts. With more on the “Don’t be a fool, just to be cool” campaign is MUSD Superintendent Tom Baumgarten…
“Don’t be a fool, just to be cool.” What looks cool on social media can kill you and hurt your family. This is Tom Baumgarten, Superintendent of Morongo Unified School District and we care about students. Too many of our young people are getting hurt, and even killed, trying to copy the latest stunt they saw on social media. I urge students to stop and think about their personal safety before they risk their lives…just for a post or a picture. “Don’t be a fool, just to be cool.” A message from the Morongo Unified School District and Z107.7.
