MUSD ADDRESSES PARENTS AMID SOCIAL MEDIA THREATS

The Morongo Unified School District sent a message to parents last night to let them know that they are aware of nationwide threats made on the social media app, Tik Tok. In part, the message reads:

“The Morongo Unified School District is aware of the Nationwide threats of violence against schools that is currently circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms. We want to assure you, that while there are no specific local threats against our schools, all principals and school administrators are taking precautionary measures at all school sites.”

The message sent by MUSD is similar to other announcements from school districts across the country. While there are no credible threats locally at this time, the district is closely working with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to monitor the situation. The district advises students to not repost threats as they create a cycle of fear that can complicate law enforcement investigations.

If anyone has information on any credible threat, the district asks that you immediately contact the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
