The Murtle the Turtle sculpture on Turtle Island in Joshua Tree will be dedicated today. The turtle was re-built in 1971 by noted local ceramics artist and sculptor, Howard Pierce. It was refurbished and repainted recently, and the Joshua Tree Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a dedication ceremony, starting at 5 p.m. The public is invited for cake and champagne for those of legal age.
