MURAL REGULATIONS TO BE UPDATED, SAYS YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL AT LAST NIGHT’S MEETING

The Yucca Valley Town Council is in agreement that mural regulations are in need of an update, in what was one of many issues discussed at last night’s meeting. Reporter Jef Harmatz was there and has the details.

At last night’s regularly scheduled meeting, members of the town council were in agreement that regulations regarding murals and the separate but related issue of business signage along 29 Palms Highway needs an overhaul. Spurred by a smattering of un-permitted murals in town, the council recognized that these murals are, on the whole beneficial to the town, and that new regulations should encourage their creation with some town oversight. The council approved the creation of the Underground Utility District 1, which will replace utility poles on the corner of Little League Drive and Palm Ave with equipment buried beneath the pavement.  The council also ranked some of their priorities as part of the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan process, saying that Highway 62 maintenance projects were at the top of their agenda.
