The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of multiple bronze items at the Joshua Tree Memorial Park on the highway in Joshua Tree. Cemetery workers called deputies about 9:30 a.m. Friday morning to report that sometime between June 5 and 6, bronze marker plates, bronze flower vases, cremation rocks, and cenotaphs had been stolen, causing much damage to the cremation niches at the cemetery.
