A man known as “Mr. Yucca Valley” for his extraordinary community service for many years has passed away. Bob Connors, a 25-year resident of Yucca Valley, died of complications from COVID-19 December 8; he was 91. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; daughters Diann Petro and Lynette Harlan; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bob Connors had retired after 32 years as an engineer with GTE. Connors was a whirlwind of local volunteer service and active with the Yucca Valley Elks Lodge, the Chamber of Commerce, Reach-Out, Desert Christ Park, and the Morongo Basin Historical Society. Services will be private; the family said a celebration may be held a later time to be announced.
