MOTORCYCLISTS, BICYCLISTS, AND STAGECOACH MEANS HEAVY TRAFFIC

Motorists are advised to prepare for heavy traffic on Highway 62 and the Interstate 10 freeway this weekend. Expect to see hundreds of motorcycle riders as they travel through the Morongo Basin on Highway 62 on their way to and from the Laughlin River Run. The River Run started Wednesday and goes through Sunday.

In addition, the Stagecoach Festival in Indio is expected to cause traffic delays on the 10 freeway. Expect heavier-than-usual traffic Friday and Monday.

The Joshua Tree 55 bike ride, the fourth annual scenic bike ride through Joshua Tree National Park, will host some 260 bicycle riders Saturday (April 27). The ride starts at Knott’s Sky Park in Twentynine Palms, continues through Joshua Tree National Park and back to Knott’s Sky Park for a total of 55 miles traveled with five SAG stops. Participants will enjoy scenic views of Skull Rock, Cap Rock with turn around points at Cap Rock & Key’s View. The event will also include raffle prizes and swag bags. The Joshua Tree 55 Bike ride is hosted by the City of Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree National Park, and the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. The ride starts promptly at 6 a.m. from Knott’s Sky Park. Rider check-in will take place from 5 to 5:30 a.m. For more information call 760-367-7562.
