MOTORCYCLIST KILLED IN WONDER VALLEY SATURDAY EVENING

A motorcyclist was killed when he went too fast into a curve on Amboy Road in Wonder Valley, east of Twentynine Palms, Saturday evening. The CHP said at about 5:20 p.m., Michael Schmidt, 56, of Paramount, was riding his 2008 Harley-Davidson on Amboy Road near Ironage Road. Schmidt failed to negotiate an eastbound to westbound curve and lost control, hit the sandy shoulder, rolled out into the open desert and was ejected. Emergency personnel arrived and pronounced Michael Schmidt dead at 6:06. Schmidt had been riding his motorcycle to visit friends just a short distance away. The accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
