Updated 10 a.m.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday when he collided with a Jeep in Twentynine Palms. About 2:15 p.m., Patricia Knight, 49, of Twentynine Palms was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee southbound on Lear Avenue. As Knight approached Two Mile Road, Rodney Allen, 22, a corporal with Combat Logistics Battalion-7 on the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base, was riding a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle, and attempted to pass Knight. As Allen passed Knight, she made a left-hand turn onto Two Mile Road and Allen collided with the left side of the Jeep. Rodney Allen sustained major injuries and was taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The Sheriff’s Morongo Basin Station Major Accident Investigation Team said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
