A motorcycle rider was seriously injured Sunday when he was rear-ended by a driver who was high on drugs. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Mark Gregory, 52, of Palms Springs, was on his motorcycle stopped at the traffic light at Joshua Lane and Highway 62 about 11:19 a.m. Sunday when he was rear-ended by Juan DeLuna, 51, of Thousand Palms, who was driving a Ford pick-up truck. Gregory sustained multiple broken bones in the crash and was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with serious injuries. Deputies determined that DeLuna had a suspended driver’s license and had methamphetamine in his possession. In addition, deputies determined that DeLuna was under the influence of meth and marijuana. Juan DeLuna was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of drugs causing injury, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
